Our November SHAD will focus specifically on achieving sound personal health in the workplace. Topics discussed will range from understanding respiratory and occupational health, the implications of drugs and alcohol, and mental health - a realm which is becoming increasingly understood through recent years. Aimed at those in leadership positions, this event will demonstrate the importance of health and safety at work, and consider the different aspects of personal health which impact individuals. This SHAD hopes to address these aspects, and provide advice and guidance to employers.
We have some interesting topics up for discussion at this event. The following have already confirmed that they will present:
- Health and Safety Laboratory's (HSL) Chief Medical Officer, and Co-Director of the Centre for Workplace Health, David Fishwick. The HSL is one of the world's leading providers of health and safety solutions to industry, government and professional bodies.
- Charlie Vale, Health and Safety Professional who works for the mental health charity, Mates in Mind. This organisation aims to raise awareness of mental health and addresses the negative stigma attached to the topic, improving positive mental well-being.
- Representative from IOSH - the biggest health and safety membership organisation in the world, IOSH are also the only Chartered body for health and safety professionals.
